This past December was one of the most challenging periods in our 42-year snow removal history.
Why It Was The Perfect Storm: historic snows, high occupancy, freeway closures, power and communication system outages, and fuel shortages combined with employment challenges faced by all local employers led to a frustrating period for everyone in Tahoe Donner.
Improvements We’ve Made:
- Shorter Routes: each route will have fewer homes, resulting in more timely snow removal.
- Employee retention: We are offering year-round work and higher wages in order to recruit and retain, good, reliable snow removal operators.
- Backup Generators: we’ve already installed emergency generators to power our operations and communication systems during power outages.
- Fuel Storage: we’ve added an additional 1,200 gallons of fuel storage.
- Equipment Upgrades: we’re upgrading our snowblowers and adding new tractors to our fleet.
And Finally: We are our own biggest critics. We want to provide the best product possible and are disappointed when the quality is not up to our standards. We will continue to analyze our work and implement improvements in order to offer a better service.
