Paints, Stains & Varnishes

Products accepted: latex and oil-based house paints, stains and varnishes in containers up to 5 gallons in size. These products must be in their original container and the container must have a label and a secured lid.
Drop Off Locations: Mountain Hardware & Sport, Kelly-Moore & Truckee Paint Mart.
When: During store hours. See a Paint Department representative.
Fee: Free.

Hazardous Materials

Products accepted: paint, motor oil, gasoline, brake fluid, solvents, automotive chemicals, insecticides, herbicides, poisons, drain opener, oven cleaner, rug cleaner, ammonia, chlorine bleach, disinfectants, pool & spa chemicals, furniture polish, rubber cement, silver polish, tub/tile cleaner, toilet cleaner, pharmaceuticals, syringes in rigid plastic containers.
Drop Off Location: Eastern Regional Landfill (Cabin Creek Road on Hwy 89).
When: 3rd Saturday of every month. By appointment only – call 530-583-7800 to schedule appointment.

Products accepted: All electronics, cords and cables and holiday lights.
Drop Off Location: Eastern Regional Landfill (Cabin Creek Road on Hwy 89).
When: Monday – Saturday, 8:00 am to 4:00pm.

Medicine & Prescription Drugs

Products accepted: Unwanted, unused and expired medications. Medication must be in the original containers, not larger than 5 inches high or 3 inches in diameter. Remove confidential information, leaving only the name of the medication. No illegal drugs.
Drop Off Location: Truckee Police Department.
When: Monday – Friday, 8am to 5pm.
Fee: Free.
